USA: Judge authorizes lawsuit against TPS

A federal judge in San Francisco rejected the request to dismiss a lawsuit filed against the decision of the government of President Donald Trump to cancel the Temporary Protected Status or TPS to four countries, including El Salvador and Nicaragua.

Judge Edward Chen determined in a ruling that the courts have the authority to review the claim related to the TPS.

With the appeal presented in March, the aim is to restore TPS to people from El Salvador, Haiti, Nicaragua and Sudan. The Temporary Protected Status is granted to immigrants from countries devastated by natural disasters or wars, and allows them to remain in the United States until the situation improves in their nations.

The Trump administration had requested that the suit be dismissed on the grounds that the courts can not review their decisions to end the TPS.
