BCIE delivers $ 250 thousand to Guatemala after the tragedy of the volcano

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE) granted a non-reimbursable financial cooperation in the amount of US $ 250,000.00 dollars to the government of Guatemala.

The donation was “as a gesture of solidarity in order to support actions aimed at mitigating, reestablishing infrastructure and essential services; as a result of the eruption of the Fuego volcano, “the BCIE said in a statement.

BCIE Executive President, Dr. Nick Rischbieth, stressed that the BCIE is in solidarity with the Government and the Guatemalan people in the face of the tragedy that occurred last Sunday as a result of the violent eruption of the Fuego volcano and that has left pain, loss of life human and dozens injured in the departments of Chimaltenango, Escuintla and Sacatepéquez.

President Rischbieth added that the BCIE expresses its condolences to the families of the deceased, while renewing votes for the early recovery of the affected areas, and explained that the cooperation is part of the Institutional Strategy of the BCIE 2015-2019 “Integrating Development and Competitiveness”, and specifically in the areas of competitiveness and social development.

The donation to the emergency seeks to collaborate immediately with the solution of the problems generated by the eruption of the Fuego volcano and to support the humanitarian assistance to the affected population.
