Attacks on six cities at the restart of the National Dialogue in Nicaragua

Six cities were attacked by the “combined forces” of the Government of Nicaragua, leaving     at least 3 deaths, hours after the national dialogue began today with the presence of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), to overcome a crisis that has left more than 218 dead.

The cities of Diriamba, Managua, Masaya, Matagalpa, Nagarote and Tipitapa, were attacked since last night by the “combined forces”, which integrate police, riot police, paramilitaries, and pro-government groups, denounced the Nicaraguan Center for Human Rights (Cenidh).

The movements of “self-summoned” citizens of the various cities reported the death of at least 2 people in Managua and 1 in Tipitapa, while in Nagarote reported 4 injured, one of them seriously injured.

Violence persisted in Nicaragua despite the fact that a team from the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) settled in Managua on Sunday.

This team is part of the Special Follow-up Mechanism for Nicaragua (Meseni), which will monitor compliance with the recommendations and precautionary measures issued by the IACHR, among which are the cessation of repression and the guarantee of human rights.
